Our story

It started with funding our own programs.

The Word of Life grew out of The Word of Life Church in University Place, whose volunteer teams have run food distribution, family support and youth programs for French-speaking African families since 2022. Finding money for that work taught us grants from the applicant's side: the research, the writing, the budgets, the reports. Now we do the same work for other organizations.

FAQs

Questions We Get Asked

Straight answers to what organizations ask before they hire a grant team.

Can you guarantee we will get funded?

No, and nobody honest can. What we can do is make sure you only apply where you are eligible and competitive, and that every application is complete, compliant and on time.

How do you charge?

A fixed price per application or per award, or a monthly retainer for ongoing work, agreed in writing before we start. We charge for our time and never take a percentage of the grant.

We are not a registered nonprofit yet. Can you still help?

Yes. Many funders accept churches and fiscally sponsored groups, and some grants are open to small businesses. The readiness check tells you what you can apply for now and what registrations would open more doors.

Which grants do you work on?

Federal, Washington state, county and city, private foundations and corporate giving programs. We focus on community services: food, family support, youth, education, health, housing and integration.

How much notice do you need for an application?

Four weeks is comfortable for a foundation application and eight or more for a federal one. Shorter is sometimes possible; tell us the deadline and we will say yes or no straight away.

Do you work in French?

Yes. We can run the whole engagement with your team in French and produce the funder-facing documents in English.

Are you the same organization as The Word of Life Church?

No. The Word of Life / La Borne WA is a separate, for-profit grant services company founded by the church's leadership. The church is a congregation with its own programs and finances, and its site is linked at the top of this page.

Have a Deadline Coming Up, or No Idea Where to Start?
